Tierra A. Jenkins’ practice focuses on negotiating collective bargaining agreements, grievance administration, conducting high-profile disciplinary investigations and employer counseling. Tierra combines legal expertise with a practical approach to problem-solving, making her a trusted advisor to her clients in navigating the complexities of unionized work forces.
Tierra has served as chief legal advisor to unionized employers in the medical and transportation industries. She has successfully led the negotiation and ratification of multiple collective bargaining agreements, stream-lining processes and achieving significant cost savings for her clients. Tierra also provides critical guidance and counsel to her clients on matters such as policy development, contract administration, pay equity concerns, employee dispute resolution and routinely conducts employer trainings.
Tierra draws upon her time spent as Labor Counsel for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, where she honed her skills representing management at labor arbitrations, grievance hearings, and civil service proceedings. She achieved a commendable success rate in advocating management’s position on issues ranging from safety violations to contractual disputes across various unions.
Tierra has helped employers handle day-to-day labor relations with various unions such as IBEW, Steelworkers, the Boston Carmen’s Union – Local 589, the Massachusetts Building Trades Council, the Alliance of Unions, the MBTA Police Association, the UMass Memorial Medical Center Police Union, the UFCW, the SEIU, the SHARE Union, NAGE Paramedics and many others.
Prior to joining HRW, Tierra served as Senior Labor and Employee Relations Specialist as UMass Memorial Medical Center and as Labor Counsel for the MTBA.
