C. MAX PERLMAN
Max Perlman is an experienced business litigator and employment lawyer, representing businesses and entrepreneurs in a wide range of sophisticated lawsuits, appeals, arbitrations and mediations. Many of his cases involve disputes arising out of corporate mergers and acquisitions, including claims of non-payment of earn-outs and breach of representations and warranties. Max specializes in cases stemming from employment and shareholder relationships, including high-tech non-competition and trade secret litigation, close corporation shareholder disputes, and discrimination matters. In addition to handling his clients’ disputes, Max advises his clients on employment matters, including negotiation of terms of executive compensation, handling of employee terminations, and formulation of employment policies.
Max represents business clients in many sectors, including high-tech, medical and bio-tech, aviation, transportation/logistics, professional services, industrial/manufacturing and venture capital. His clients range from large international corporations with thousands of employees to small, recently-funded companies.
Max has served as lead counsel in cases in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Illinois, Georgia, Arizona, Washington, D.C., and California, and has argued before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and the Massachusetts Appeals Court. Max is experienced in alternative dispute resolution. Max also has significant experience in dealing with high-stakes issues of data security and loss of personal information. He works with New England businesses to address the complex requirements of the Massachusetts Data Security statutes and regulations (M.G.L. ch. 93H, 93I, 201 C.M.R. 17.00, et seq.). Max also trains other lawyers in the issues arising from these new laws. Max is a member of HRW's Data Security Team, which was formed to develop a comprehensive approach to the new data security regulations, including developing programs for compliance, speaking and training on the subject, and monitoring and participating in relevant legislative activities.

Prior Experience
Max joined the law firm of Sullivan Weinstein and McQuay, P.C. right after graduating law school. He became a partner of the firm in 2001.
Prior to joining Sullivan Weinstein and McQuay, Max clerked at the New York State law firm of Hiscock & Barclay, and with the Honorable Sue L. Robinson of the United States District Court, District of Delaware.
